Personal Project 5 Brief

The following was communicated to me by the client (which I then formulated into a workable brief):

We are looking for a website that....

• Will be found on Google so we can bring in new business although we are well known in the industry. It will be useful to raise our profile in the minds of councils and also private individuals
• Looks good as our previous web site was rubbish! We had control of certain parts of the design and to be honest we just didn't want to spend the time altering it! It would take us so long to alter anything we didn't bother. Also it had lots of empty pages in the menu which just confused people!
• Customers can contact us through a contact form. The previous web site claimed to email enquiries through to us but we never received one single enquiry! It was advised upon cancelling the site that the email system had never been set up properly so people might have been emailing us but they were just stuck in the system somewhere! Not good - doesn't make us look very professional
• Has our contact information on as well. We want companies like councils to be able to quickly access the information they need as they are often extremely busy. We want to make life easier for them in the hope they'll more likely deal with us
• Shows before and after photographs of our best jobs

About Wrenco Ltd:
We are a small established company with 25 years experience and we are good at what we do! We mainly deal with commercial companies like councils and heritage houses. We do also deal with private individuals for mansions and things like that but not as often. The industrial (commercial) companies probably makes up about 90% of our business. We do get quite a few requests from builders and building companies who build new houses and want them cleaning ready to sell. This brings us a fair bit of business


We sell chemicals to trade mainly and also to an agent in South Wales. The chemicals are hazardous so transporting them is tricky or expensive if we contract a haulier but as they are specialist we do well


The business generally is struggling. It's the same in the whole industry! Everyone's fighting for the same business. In fact last Winter was the worst in ten years. With this in mind we would really appreciate your help in getting us on the internet in a prominent position. Most of our business comes through word of mouth and we are well known within the trade. There aren't many of us so everyone knows everyone therefore it's quite edgy competing in a fierce market sometimes but we do have the experience to back us up

Personal Project 5 Brief - Wrenco Ltd

Wrenco Ltd is a small well established business based in Lighthorne Heath, Warwickshire. The company consists of owners Russell and Jennifer Greenwood. Wrenco Ltd are a stone restoration and chemical cleaning company specialising in building stitching, graffiti removal and stone cleaning. Examples of their stone restoration includes Listed Buildings, Council Buildings, Heritage Houses, Ecclesiastical Restoration, Public Buildings, Churches and Steeples

Their services also include a full technical back up service, Fire Damage Repair and Specialist Chemical Sales. They have developed a wide range of specialist chemicals for application in building cleaning and renovation in the following areas: Brick Cleaning, Stone Cleaning, Graffiti Removal, Patio Cleaning, Paint Stripping and Algaecide. All the chemicals are biodegradable and are regularly tested for conformity and quality

Wrenco Ltd requires a web site building as their old web site is no longer available on the internet and they feel it imperative to have a web site presence. The old site was built from a template design which they felt was too messy and cluttered so looked unprofessional. As it was from a template they were unable to amend any elements of the design, therefore now require a bespoke design where any fundamental changes can be made at any time

Design

• We are to use photos used in Wrenco Ltd literature as they show before and after shots of work previously done.
• The colour scheme needs to complement the logo and be professional yet create visual impact.

Competition

Wrenco Ltd are very well known in the building cleaning and restoration trade. In Russell’s words “There’s not many of us so everyone knows everyone”. The only major competitor Wrenco are concerned about is the company Building Restoration & Cleaning. They also state they have 25 years trade experience

Key Messages

• The Company uses the slogan “The Caring Cleaning Company” on their literature

Target Audience

• Building Companies – Once new houses have been built they are contracted to clean them up ready to sell
• Industrial Sector (mostly commercial work) – Councils, Heritage buildings etc
• Private Sector (small proportion of business) – Mansion cleaning etc
• Hazardous Chemical Distributors (Mainly sell to an agent in South Wales
• Would prefer to do most of work locally however do work nationally – they have clients in London & Manchester

Objectives

• Web site that showcases what the company does
• Well optimised for search engines to bring in private customers and to look more professional against the competition
• Divided into different elements eg Small Works, Stone Restoration, Stone Cleaning, Graffiti Removal etc
• To contain a Contact form that works! The previous template driven web site had a contact form which was never set up properly
• I want to provide the added benefit of having an accessible web site
